The Haunting
Visit the historically haunted museums of Historic Palmyra. Dubbed one of “the most haunted places in the Finger Lakes”,the Phelps General Store and Residence is one of the many places where the hauntings occur. At the Historical Museum, guests can explore the 23 rooms of the old hotel that was moved to its current location at 132 Market Street after a fire in 1964 killed a young mother and her 6 children. Visitors can hear the ghostly laughter of the children as they run from room to room, playing hide and seek. Footsteps and eerie noises can be heard coming from the Erie Canal Depot and Palmyra Print Shop as well.

Private Ghost Investigations available most weekends by reservations.
As many as 30 visitors at a time are welcome to the property. Ghost hunts are available seven days a week and will not be joined together unless filling a minimum requirement. Prices vary by hunt length and time. Each tour is specific to your own group and your own experiences. Your guide will share stories, photographs, and EVPs should you choose—or keep the history a secret and verify your findings at the end.
Historic Palmyra has three buildings that are suitable for hunting - from a 3-single room floor Erie Canal Depot to a 3-story, totally original general store and home just steps from the Erie Canal (the place where 7 people died in a horrific fire). The Alling Coverlet Museums stands as the third building open for exploration, a treasure trove of handmade American Coverlets, or bedcovers. Each house items from the early 1800’s which tell the stories of families, businesses, and farmers and bankers; and how they lived and worked in a well-established canal town. Everything in these museums offers the remanences of 200 years of living, dying, and prosperity.

The locations are open for normal daytime historical and haunted tours (ask about the hauntings) during these hours:
Summer Hours: (May 15 - Oct 1), Tuesday-Friday, 10:00-4:00pm, Saturdays 10:00-2:00pm
Winter Hours: (Oct 1 - May 15), Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00-4:00pm
Ghost hunts can be booked in the evenings all year, from 6:00pm to 12:00am or 7:00pm to 1:00am. Watch for special events. To schedule a ghost hunt, please call (315) 597-6981.
Costs:
Ghost tours (daytime): 2 hours at $20 per person- reservations required.
Ghost Hunt(night times): 6:00pm - 12:00am OR 7:00pm-1:00am. Non refundable $60 deposit required to secure date. Ghost hunts are scheduled Thursdays- Sundays.
