The star-shaped Fort Ontario, known as the "Guardian of the Northern Frontier" was built in 1839 on the ruins of three earlier fortresses that date back to the French and Indian War. Hundreds of soldiers and civilians perished on site, which may explain the paranormal activity people have reported, including strange lights and music, a woman that appears in an upstairs window, and a ghostly child calling for his cat. Fort Ontario serves as the final resting place for 77 officers, soldiers, women, and children.
