The Haunting

Established in 1827 as the Genesee County Poor House—a working farm that evolved into a refuge for society’s most vulnerable—the site housed widows, orphans, and the mentally ill.

In 1938, the Genesee County Infirmary was added, and in 1964 the property became the Genesee County Nursing Home, operating as a county facility until its closure in 1974.

Today, the location is known worldwide as Rolling Hills Asylum. This massive 60,000-square-foot facility (including a tunnel) has more than 1,700 documented deaths, with countless others unrecorded, and is infamous for intense paranormal activity, including Shadow People, Class A EVPs, disembodied voices, poltergeist phenomena, and much more.
