The Haunting
Graestone Manor Bed & Breakfast is a large Victorian mansion that was built in 1865. The house is divided into two sections; the main house and the servants side or wing of the house.The property dates back to 1833 when Silas Newcomb owned this land. His son Albert and his wife inherited the 275 acre property and in 1850 were living in the house. Alberts brother A.C. Newcomb only inherited 2 acres of apple orchards. Men have been heard arguing in the basement and front hall of the house. Then the Root family moved in, they were a very wealthy family who bred thoroughbred racehorses. They had a quarter mile racetrack on the property at one time called ‘Roots Trotting Park.’
Reports of hearing the sounds of horse hooves and a carriage, as well as a man's voice and whistling have occurred on several occasions. The ghost of a woman, who we believe to be another former resident of the home, has been seen and caught on film looking out of the window at people standing outside. This ghost likes to follow people around, with many feeling an uncomfortable presence in several areas of the home. Reports of a vortex or portal area in the basement and another in the upstairs children's room have been attributed to Victorian seances being held in the home in the 1800s and Ouija board use. Dark shadow masses, the smell of cigar smoke, perfume and disembodied voices await you at Graestone Manor.

Private Ghost Tours (6-11pm and 7-midnight for groups of 5 - 10 people for $320 include a brief history tour of the location, and a walk through where you will be shown the ‘hot spots’ and told where paranormal experiences have occurred. Owners Bob Mattison and his wife Psychic Medium Heather Rease Mattison will be on hand to guide you through the home. They also provide paranormal equipment for use in the investigation.
