The Haunting
In the picturesque rural village of Warsaw NY stands the stately Gates House. Built by Horace Hollister, a carriage and sleigh maker in 1824, The Gates House is a post colonial home which still sports its original façade.
Seth Merrill Gates, the abolitionist, and his family moved into the home in 1844 and he still visits to this day. Mr. Gates was a retired U.S Congressman who welcomed slaves who were seeking freedom into his home. Could those be the footsteps often heard in the house?
Visitors and staff have reported disembodied voices in the kitchen, cold spots in the basement, shadow figures and apparitions in the parlor, and even the presence of mischievous children.
