The Haunting
The Old Stone Fort was built as a church in 1772, fortified during the American Revolution in 1777 and attacked by British forces in 1780. Surrounded by a cemetery and filled with thousands of historical artifacts, it is no surprise that numerous paranormal encounters and experiences have been reported by visitors and staff.
Guests have reported feeling a presence try to stop them from going upstairs, hearing a woman scream from the tower, and even seeing apparitions in the doorway to the library. It's also not unusual to hear footsteps on the second floor when no one is up there. When SyFy's "Ghost Hunters" visited, they heard the organ begin to play by itself.
