The Haunting

Experience history and grandeur at the Borland House, built in the 1780s and expanded with a striking Greek Revival style addition in the early 1800s. The property was once home to Charles Borland Jr., a prominent lawyer, politician, and District Attorney, and Isabella Hill Borland, a member of a well-known local family. The Borland House boasts high ceilings, narrow planked floors, window cornices, Doric columns, and ornate front and back entries with sidelights, transom, tracery, and pilasters. Pocket doors can be found between the dining area and music room, and the house has the capacity to impress.

The Inn's current owner has a love for antiques and takes care to maintain the structural and time era integrity of the Greek revival home. She has only felt warmth and welcome within the house. The current manager has reported strange experiences, like hearing footsteps in the dining area late at night, seeing shadowy figures and meeting psychics who claim to be drawn to the house. Guests have reported hearing footsteps outside their door along with the shadows of feet. TVs have been known to turn on and off by themselves. But despite the strange occurrence, no malicious presence has been felt and the owners and guests find that the spirits are happy with the way the house is kept.

The house has been maintained by five family lines over the years, with the longest being 100 years, held by the Borlands, and 100 owned by Henry Hintz and his family.
