St. Lawrence County
About
Along New York’s northern border, St. Lawrence County takes its name from the St. Lawrence River, discovered on the Feast Day of Saint Lawrence by French explorer Jacques Cartier. Framed by the mighty river to the north, Adirondack Park to the south, and a fertile river valley at its heart, the county offers a distinctly North Country pace of life and a wide range of four-season activities. Historic river towns line the shoreline alongside scenic byways, waterfront dining, premier fishing, and fiery sunsets stretching toward Canada, while cultural landmarks like the Seaway Visitor Center and a growing arts scene add creative energy. Beyond the river, forests, trails, colleges, museums, farmers’ markets, and mountain retreats, with Ontario just across the water.
