The architecture and interior design of the locations on the Haunted History Trail of New York State are as varied as the ghosts themselves. Each location exudes character, which is a big part of the experience in exploring the trail. Thanks to the work of Amity Photos, we're going to be taking several photographic journeys along the trail in upcoming blog posts. In this post (and in no particular order) we take a peak at five unique staircases that you may come across when exploring the Haunted History Trail of New York State.
#1. Brae Loch Inn, Cazenovia, NY (Central NY region/Madison County)
The Brae Loch Inn in Cazenovia, NY has been called "a more authentic Scottish pub and inn that what you find in Scotland." There's one thing for sure, seeing this staircase when checking into the inn is a strong indication that you're visiting a special place!
This beautiful staircase is just the tip of the iceberg in the magnificent Knox Mansion in Johnstown, NY. All of the mansion's 42 rooms exhibit unforgettable interior design.
It's a tight, circular stairways to the top of the 61 foot tall Dunkirk Lighthouse in Dunkirk, NY. Located high above the Lake Erie shoreline, a beacon has been guiding boats and ships for almost 200 years (1823).
5. Casey Cottage, Mexico, NY (1000 Islands/Seaway region/Oswego County)
An old carriage house on Lake Erie was slowly transformed into a Renaissance-era beauty by Dr. Casey and friends. Found inside Mexico State Park in Mexico, NY, odd things happen here - including the spotting of a Native American on the shoreline outside the house.
This stairways inside The Vanderbilt House Hotel & Restaurant isn't particularly interesting. However, it made this list because it just looks scary. Come on...would you go up there?
